Rajasthan all-rounder Mahipal Lomror has signed a six-match deal with Surrey for the current County Championship Division One 2026. Lomror is set to make his Surrey debut against Nottinghamshire in their home game which is scheduled to commence on August 20 at Kennington Oval, London.
Surrey felt the need to rope in Lomror as their star players Will Jacks and Dan Lawrence are unavailable. Jacks has been nursing an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Lawrence has been recalled to the Test squad for the three-Test series against Pakistan which begins on August 19.

"I'm happy to join Surrey for the remainder of the season. Playing in the County Championship is a huge opportunity for me to challenge myself in a new environment and learn from an experienced group," Lomror said.
26-year-old Lomror's previous appearance in competitive cricket was in January 2026. He was not picked by any Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. He came in as a replacement for an injured Quinton de Kock in Mumbai Indians (MI) squad towards the end of IPL 2026 season.
Lomror’s red-ball cricket record
Lomror has played 63 first-class games so far, scoring 3,836 runs averaging 42.62. He has 10 centuries including a triple ton against Uttarakhand in November 2025. The southpaw has 17 fifties to his name as well. He is handy as a left-arm spinner, claiming 62 wickets at an average of 32.87, including a five-wicket haul.
Indians who have played for Surrey
Lomror has joined the long list of Indian players who have represented Surrey in County Championships. The first was Zaheer Khan in 2004. In the next season, Harbhajan Singh played for them. Then, Anil Kumble joined surrey as well. In 2011, Pragyan Ojha had a stint at Surrey. Virat Kohli was set to join Surrey but he couldn't fulfill the commitment due to a neck injury. In the previous season, Sai Sudharsan and R Sai Kishore played for Surrey as well. In the ongoing season, Rahul Chahar joined the County side. Lomror and Chahar play for Rajasthan in domestic cricket as well.
Where are Surrey in County Championship standings?
Surrey are currently placed fifth in standings with four wins from eight games. They have 105 points, same as Essex but a better net run rate (NRR). Their next opponent, Nottinghamshire are at the top with 116 points.
