India's T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma will likely leave his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of IPL 2025. There have been speculations about his release since the franchise appointed Hardik Pandya as their new captain ahead of IPL 2024. Now, there is a report claiming that Rohit will join a new IPL franchise ahead of the mega auction.

Rohit Sharma was seen as disappointed since the franchise appointed Hardik Pandya as his successor in the IPL 2024. According to the report of Dainik Jagran, Rohit Sharma can now separate from the Mumbai Indians team for the IPL 2025 season, while KKR, which won the IPL 2024 title, can include him in its camp. Suryakumar Yadav, who has played IPL for Mumbai with Rohit for the last several seasons, can also separate from the franchise.

Rohit Sharma is one of the most successful captains in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), MI won five IPL titles under his captaincy which is joint most by any team. However, he was failed to perform in the recent season of the tournament since then there have been talks that he will leave the franchise.

Rohit Sharma becomes the second Indian captain to win a T20 World Cup in the history of the game. However, Rohit announced his retirement just after India's win in the final. The first World Cup India won was under MS Dhoni's leadership during the inaugural season of the tournament. Rohit will now be seen in action in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka where he will lead Men in Blue.
