Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on September 2 announced their squads for white-ball tour of England. Former captain Dasun Shanaka has been recalled to the ODI squad after a long absence of 32 months. While pacers Milan Rathnayake and Pramod Madushan have faced the axe, uncapped leg-spinner Sachindu Colombage with 69 wickets in List A cricket has been included in the squad.
Another captain returns, SL ring in 4 changes to T20I squad
Apart from Shanaka, another former captain has returned. Charith Asalanka has earned a recall to T20I squad after missing the T20I series against West Indies. He has been picked as captain Kusal Mendis' deputy for the series. For Galle Giants in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026, he scored 385 runs from 11 innings, averaging 38.50. He scored at a strike rate of 153.38. He registered four fifties, joint-most in the season.

Four players dropped from the T20I squad are Lasith Croospulle, Pavan Rathnayake, Milan Rathnayake and Dilshan Madushanka. The top run-scorer of LPL 2026, Lahiru Udara has been recalled after a long gap of three years. Also, Janith Liyanage, Tharindu Rathnayake have been called up. Tharindu is yet to make his T20I debut.

Schedule for SL vs ENG white-ball series
The tour will begin on September 15. Sri Lanka will go up against the Harry Brook-led England in three T20I series which will go on till September 19. The ODI series will commence on September 22. The third and final ODI of the series will be played on September 27.
Notably, England had beaten reigning T20 champions India 4-0 in the five-T20I series at home. Sri Lanka are placed ninth in the rankings, slightly above Afghanistan who will take on India in a three-T20I series starting September 13.
