Stephen A. Smith On Lamar Jackson Potentially Winning the MVP Award

The dearth of success at the stage that matters most, and an empty Lombardi Trophy shelf, wasn't going to go unnoticed by Stephen A. Smith. According to the famed analyst, if Lamar does win the coveted MVP award for this season, it wouldn't be any substance and wouldn't appeal to even the people of Baltimore.

“Lamar Jackson, in all likelihood, is going to be named an MVP for the third time in his career,” Stephen A. professed on the latest episode of First Take. “I challenge anybody to show me somebody who’s going to win the MVP award, and at that moment, how little folks are going to care. Nobody in Baltimore, nobody in the NFL other than your contemporaries… Nobody really cares. Because we know that greatness demands more than that trophy.”

While Stephen A. Smith frank opinion may bring some counter-reactions but it is an unsaid rule that people undermine the MVP achievement if the effort does not fetch a championship win. Nevertheless, a 3-time MVP tag would still be a feat to venerate.

Lamar Jackson Will Walk Among Giants

Lamar would join an elite group of NFL legends, including Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers, as only the seventh player to attain this impressive milestone. Achieving this feat would be a monumental accomplishment worthy of recognition and celebration, rather than being overlooked.

It's difficult not to sympathize with Lamar, a player of his caliber deserves to have at least reached a Super Bowl by now. Unfortunately, he's only made one AFC Championship appearance and has a tendency to make crucial errors in high-pressure situations. However, on this occasion, Lamar wasn't entirely to blame. Although he did commit a costly fumble that swung the game's momentum and threw an early interception, it was ultimately Mark Andrews who let him and the team down when it mattered most in the game's critical late stages.
