The Kansas City Chiefs will take on Philadelphia Eagles in the upcoming Super Bowl 59 clash on February 9, in New Orleans. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl (25-22) last time around.

Why are people boycotting the Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl 59 clash?

The Eagles will look to take their revenge on the Chiefs after losing the Super Bowl 2022 game (38-35) at the State Farm Stadium. On the other hand, the Chiefs are eyeing to win their third consecutive Super Bowl and become the first team in the National Football League (NFL) history to do so.

Even though the match has some intriguing narratives, there are still plenty of people who don't want this match. According to X (formerly known as Twitter), over 300,000 people plan to boycott Super Bowl 59 with the hashtag #boycottsuperbowl trending on the social media platform.

The three reasons behind the boycott

1. A rematch from two years ago (LVII)

At the start of the 2024 season, many people wanted to see Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills or even Baltimore Ravens in the biggest game of the season but as the season progressed they showed there's still some room for improvement to advance past the divisional round or conference game.

Nobody wanted a rematch from two years ago but both the teams defeated dangerous opponents in the conference games which has led them to New Orleans.

2. Jalen Hurts not the most entertaining quarterback

The Eagles have been at the receiving end for their heavy run game. Saquon Barkley had impressive week after week but Jalen Hurts wasn't at the top of his game.

Out of the starting four quarterbacks who featured in the conference games, Hurts threw for the least yards. He had 2,903, Josh Allen had 3,731, Partick Mahomes with 3,928 and Jayden Daniels with 3,568.

3. The controversies surrounding Kansas City Chiefs

During the current season, the Kansas City Chiefs have been in the thick of things as controversies surrounded them. Some fans have alleged that the league is rigged after their win against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game.

It was reported by Billie Schwab Dunn from Newsweek that fans have flooded social media with messages to boycott the Super Bowl amid allegations that the games are 'rigged' in favor of the Chiefs.

The reporter reached out to Barstool Sports owner, Dave Portnoy, who expressed his frustration and mentioned that he will not watch this year's Super Bowl 59.
