The New York Mets scripted history during the final game at Citi Field in the ongoing National League Championship Series (NLCS) when they registered zero strikeouts. It was just the 11th time in the postseason that any team had zero strikeouts and that helped them earn a much-needed 12-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

How did Francisco Lindor react after knowing about the rare history?

None of the hitters for the New York Mets realised the fact that they weren't struck once during the game. After the game, the players were informed about this rare history. In a conversation with Major League Baseball (MLB) insider Jayson Stark, NL MVP contender Francisco Lindor was at a loss of words after realising what his team had achieved.

"Are you sure we didn't strike out," Lindor asked.

Mets had sent 12 batters to the plate who returned without strikeouts. The last time this happened in the postseason was 22 years ago and was achieved by the Los Angeles Angels in Game 2 of the World Series.

This season the unique feat was achieved by none other than the Los Angeles Dodgers, albeit the offence in their game against the Diamondbacks on April 29th.

“I’ve never been part of a game like that. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a game like that. That’s amazing," said Mets outfielder Jesse Winker.

Los Angeles Dodgers look to seal World Series spot

Despite the Mets taking the win in Game 5, the Dodgers remain just one win away from making it to the World Series for the first time since 2020. LA will have to face Mets starter Sean Manaea, who pitched in Game 2 and earned the win with 5.0 innings pitched of two-run ball against Dodgers bullpen.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are still yet to reveal their starter as they go ahead with their third bullpen game of the postseason. A win in Game 4 made sure the Mets were on the brink of elimination however they forced Game 6.
