Former Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kyle Singler was arrested Thursday morning in Tulsa following allegations of domestic violence involving his live-in girlfriend, according to local reports. Lori Fullbright of News On 6 first reported the arrest, with KFOR later confirming the details of the alleged incident.

Arrest details and allegations

The incident reportedly involved a domestic disturbance at Singler’s residence. Law enforcement sources allege that Singler assaulted his live-in partner, leading to his arrest. As of now, further legal proceedings or statements from Singler or his representatives have not been disclosed.

Kyle Singler’s basketball career

Singler, 37, began his professional basketball journey following a standout collegiate career at Duke University. He was selected with the third pick of the second round in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. Due to uncertainty surrounding the NBA lockout, Singler spent his rookie year playing in Spain before joining the Pistons for the 2012–13 season.

During his tenure in Detroit, he averaged 8.7 points and 3.5 rebounds across 218 career games, with his most productive season being 2013–14, when he appeared in all 82 games and shot over 40 percent from three-point range. Known for his size, perimeter shooting, and basketball IQ, Kyle Singler carved out a reliable role as a role player, though his defensive and ball-handling skills were often limited compared to peers.

Oklahoma City Thunder years

Singler was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in February 2015 as part of the Kendrick Perkins/Reggie Jackson deal. He joined the Thunder during one of the franchise’s most competitive periods, helping the team reach the postseason regularly and contend among the Western Conference elite.

Despite signing a lucrative five-year contract with the Thunder in 2015, Kyle Singler struggled to meet expectations. He played only 138 games with diminished performance and was ultimately waived with two years left on his contract.

Post-NBA pursuits and recent public attention

After leaving the Thunder in 2018, Singler briefly returned to Spain to play for Iberostar Tenerife before retiring from professional basketball in 2019. In recent years, he maintained a low public profile but drew attention last winter due to a series of unusual social media posts reflecting on his NBA career and personal frustrations.

The arrest marks a stark and troubling development in Kyle Singler’s post-basketball life. The legal proceedings in Tulsa are expected to shed more light on the allegations in the coming weeks.
