NBA Insider Reveals Phoenix Suns Could Explore Options for Devin Booker

The expert weighed in on the situation of Booker in Phoenix Suns and stated, "He's never asked out. He's never wanted to leave... He was part of it when it was really bad. But then it got good."

He further stated that Booker could fetch better monetary value to Phoenix than Kevin Durant could.

"The biggest question now is Booker. Would Booker want to stay? You would get more for Booker than you would Durant, way more."

"So if you wanted to, you could trade Durant and Booker, completely start over, have a bunch of young players and draft picks. But again, unless you could make a trade with Houston, tanking does not do them no good because Houston has their picks."

Suns Could Start Afresh

While Devin Booker has stayed with the Phoenix through thick and thin, the constant struggles this season have seemingly shifted the dynamics. The lack of playoff success has apparently stemmed the idea of rebuilding the squad.

Trading both Booker and Durant would give Phoenix the chance to have a fresh start. It will allow them to ramp up high draft picks and build a squad for the future. However, the picture is not entirely rosy. There is one big complication, and it is that Houston owns Phoenix's future draft assets.

This puts the Suns' rebuilding strategy in danger, as losing games would only benefit the Rockets due to their control over Phoenix’s first-round picks.

Devin Booker Still Offers Solidarity But The Decision Rests With the Suns

At 28 years of age, Devin Booker is still in his prime and holds a $224 million contract, that will keep him bound with the franchise till the 2027-28 season. The whopping contract makes him one of the most valuable assets in the league.

Should the Suns decide to explore trade options for Devin Booker, then several teams could present their interest in the player. Teams like the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers have the wherewithal and place on the side to pursue Booker in the offseason.

Nevertheless, the final decision will rest with the Phoenix Suns. If they are convinced that their current plans with Booker have failed, then letting him off the hook would be the best path forward
