LeBron James got some hate from five-time NBA champion Ron Harper before the events of All-Star Saturday. Harper fired a shot at James's parenting in front of the media. He and his two sons, Ron Jr. and Dylan, took part in the Shooting stars competitions.
Ron Harper slams LeBron James
Interacting with the reports before Saturday's events, Ron Sr. was questioned if he envisioned his kids following his path to the NBA. Before responding, the five-time champion noted James' name and then said that he didn't force Ron Jr. and Dylan on their basketball journey.
"I'm not LeBron James," Ron Sr. said. "I'm not going to tell my kids what they have to do."
The comment got a lot of laughs from reporters, but Ron Jr. and Dylan Harper appeared to be in disbelief on their father's statement.
Ron Harper's illustrious career
Ron Sr. won five NBA titles in his career, three with the Chicago Bulls and two with the LA Lakers. He was dropping numbers for the Cleveland Cavaliers and LA Clippers before accepting being a role player upon joining the Bulls.
How Ron Harper's sons have fared in the NBA?
As for his sons, Ron Jr. went unpicked in 2022, but he has figured his path into the NBA on two-way contracts. He played for the Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons, but he is now representing the Boston Celtics.
Dylan was considered highly talented and went second in last year's NBA draft. He is still coming off the bench for a stacked San Antonio Spurs team, but he has shown glimpses of his talent.
