NBA legend LeBron James addressed Luka Doncic's sensational trade from the Dallas Mavericks during his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show. The Lakers forward seemingly took a dig at the Mavericks for the way the franchise handled Slovenian's departure.
LeBron James Takes Sharp Dig at Mavericks Over Luka Doncic Trade
Luka Doncic's trade to the Lakers came in as a surprise for the entire NBA community. The impact of the move is so intense that it is still making waves even when almost two months have gone by since the development took place. Doncic, who was a talisman of the Mavericks was heading towards an extension of his stint with the franchise but as it happened the star guard was made to exit following his 7-year-long stay.
Mavericks GM Nico Harrison is still facing the stick by the fans over the decision he made and could continue to face the flak for what transpired in the aftermath of Doncic's transfer. To justify their decision, Mavericks management came up with various statements maligning the image of Luka Doncic. It was an act uncalled for and the Mavericks are still facing the heat for it. Recently, Lakers' main man LeBron James talked about the trade of his now teammate Luka Doncic and apparently threw shade at his former team.
“I can’t put myself in his shoes because I’ve never been traded before. But I can have a sense and be a human being to know: You commit to a franchise for seven years and you feel like, ‘This is the place where I’m going to be,’” James said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “And then out of nowhere, bam, you just get traded. I don’t give a damn where you’re going… That’s a shock to your system."
James appeared to obliquely criticize the Mavericks for their lack of empathy in handling Luka Doncic's exit. The Slovenian star was the franchise's face for seven seasons and had no plans to leave Dallas. However, none of this appeared to matter to the Texas Rangers' front office when they made the historic deal.
