Abrar Ahmed suddenly became the talk of the town after his abrupt send-off to star batter Shubman Gill during India versus Pakistan Champions Trophy clash on February 23. It all happened during India's chase against Pakistan. India were placed at 100/2 as of 17.3 overs while chasing a target of 242 runs when Abrar came up with a magical delivery which completely bamboozled Shubman Gill.
After dismissing the Indian vice-captain, Pakistani spinner Ahmed gave Gill an abrupt send off, gesturing for the batsman to return to the dressing room. Abrar's celebration drew considerable criticism from fans on social media.

However, India ended up winning the match by six wickets riding on Virat Kohli's splendid century.
Fourteen days on, Abrar has come out with a clarification on his send-off to Gill. Abrar has offered apology for the incident and said he is sorry if it hurt anyone.
"That’s my style and I see nothing wrong with it. No official told me that I did anything wrong but if it hurt anyone, I am sorry for that. It was not my intention to hurt anyone," Abrar told Telecom Asia Sport.
Despite India steamrolling their arch rivals Abrar was their saving grace conceding only 28 runs in his ten overs picking one wicket.
Earlier, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram had expressed his disapproval of Ahmed's celebrations.
“I was very impressed with the ball, I wasn’t impressed with the celebrations. Time aur jagah hoti hain na yaar (There is time and place for it, buddy). If you are winning, celebrate. When you know, the team is stuck, you get the wicket, be humble. Be Humble. But that’s not happening. There is no one to tell him that,” Akram had said during his appearance on The Pavillion on Ten Sports.
Besides his send off to Gill, Abrar did one more thing, he audaciously challenged Virat Kohli to hit a six off his bowling. But what happened next left Abrar in awe.
“My childhood dream of bowling to Kohli has come true in Dubai. It was a great challenge, and I took the liberty of teasing him, asking him to hit me a six, but he never got angry. Kohli is a great batter, we all know that. But he is a great human being too. He said, ‘well bowled’ after the match, and that made my day,” Ahmed concluded.
