Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a strict action against security breach in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. PCB has addressed the 'serious security breach' that occurred during the Champions Trophy 2025 match between New Zealand and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The incident involved a spectator who breached security and attempted to embrace New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra on the field.

PCB's strict action against security breach, pitch invader arrested, banned

In response to this breach, the PCB confirmed that the pitch invader has been arrested and appeared in court on Tuesday. Moreover, the individual has been banned from attending any cricket venues within Pakistan.

This incident has grabbed eyeballs, particularly as Pakistan is hosting an ICC event after a 29-year gap. The security lapse, where a fan managed to bypass security personnel and enter the playing area, has resulted in considerable criticism directed towards the PCB.

"The PCB has taken serious note of the security breach that occurred yesterday when a spectator entered the field of play. Ensuring the safety of players and officials remains our top priority. As a responsible organisation, we have engaged with local security agencies, who have committed to increasing security personnel around the field of play at all venues and strengthening access control measures," PCB said in an official statement.

"The individual involved was arrested and presented before a court of law today (Tuesday). In addition, he has been permanently banned from entering all cricket venues in Pakistan," PCB's statement further added.

In response to the security breach, PCB has stated its commitment to collaborating closely with security agencies to strengthen and refine existing security protocols. The board's objective is to implement measures that will effectively prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. This collaborative effort emphasizes the PCB's determination to ensure the safety and security of players and spectators at all cricket events held in Pakistan.

"To prevent such incidents in the future, the PCB is working closely with security agencies and venue authorities to review and reinforce security protocols," the statement added.

New Zealand's five-wicket win over Bangladesh in Rawalpindi not only sealed their spot in the Champions Trophy semifinal but also India's. The outcome of the match officially eliminated defending champions Pakistan and Bangladesh from the eight-team tournament.
