Former India captain Virat Kohli beat Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel in the contention for 'Impact Fielder' Award to clinch his maiden medal in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after Rohit Sharma-led side defeated New Zealand by 44 runs at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
This was India's third consecutive win in the ongoing mega event, the Men in Blue ended up topping the Group A and will now face Australia for their semifinal clash at the same venue on March 4. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video where fielding coach T. Dilip gave Kohli the 'Impact Fielder' award.
"We always speak about being gun fielding unit. For me, the most important thing is how we being proactive. I thought different phases of the game, the way we squeezed in, especially when Mitchell came in, that he didn't he couldn't get rotate the strike. Earlier, wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul won the award after India's six-wicket win against Bangladesh in their opener clash of the Champions Trophy. For India vs Pakistan clash, Shikhar Dhawan gave the impact fielder medal to star all-rounder Axar Patel.
