India's table tennis contingent confirmed their sixth medal in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 after a Gnanasekaran Sathiyan brilliant fighting win over home favourite Paul Drinkhall in Birmingham on Sunday, August 8. Personally, it is Sathiyan's third medal in Birmingham as well, having won the CWG silver medal for the Men's Team and another silver with Sharath Kamal in the men's doubles event.
The bronze was Sathiyan's sixth overall medal at the Commonwealth Games since Gold Coast 2018 and back-to-back medals in as many days.
On Sunday, Sathiyan paired up with Kamal to win the men's doubles silver after going down to the English duo of Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford.
