Naveen Malik bulldozed Pakistan opponent 9-0 to win gold medal at Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022. Malik scored just two points in the first period and then tired out Muhammad Tahir to score seven points and win the bout in men's freestyle 74 kg category.

Naveen started off with a high-scoring encounter (13-3) against Nigeria's Ogbonna Emmanuel John. He followed it up with an easy 10-0 win over Singapore's Hong Yeow Lou in the quarter-final and 12-1 victory against England's Charlie Bowling.

In the final bout against Pakistan's Tahir Muhammad Sharif, the 19-year-old Naveen won 9-0. It is India's first major title in this category since Sushil Kumar's title triumph in 2018 Gold Coast Games.
