Duleep Trophy: KKR pacer Harshit Rana's four-fer helps Shreyas Iyer-led India D bowl out India C for 168 despite Baba Indrajith's gritty 72

Duleep Trophy 2024: Baba Indrajith's gritty 72-run knock helped India C take a four-run lead as they suffered a batting collapse in the first session of Day 2.

In the opening session of Day 2, India C lost six wickets for 71 runs as they were bowled out for 168 at Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur. Harshit Rana claimed a four-fer amidst Baba Indrajith's gritty 72-run knock that helped Ruturaj Gaikwad's India C take a nominal lead.

 

Indrajith's fighting knock amidst collapse

Starting the Day 2 at 91/4, wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel fell early. Porel was dismissed lbw by Rana. The young batter scored 34 runs from 61 balls including seven fours. A few overs later, Rana got rid of Manav Suthar who managed to score just one run from 14 balls.
 

Aditya Thakare joined the party with the wicket of Hrithik Shokeen who scored five runs from 19 balls. Arshdeep Singh joined the party as well finding an edge off Vijaykumar Vyshak's bat. India C were 108/8 when Anshul Kamboj came in to bat. Kamboj supported Indrajith who added valuable runs from the other end. He reached his half-century from 115 balls. He dealt mostly in boundaries while Kamboj tried to block it out. 
 

Left-arm spinner Saransh Jain broke the ninth wicket partnership in the 61st over. Kamboj scored two runs from 28 balls in the 53-run partnership. In his next over, Saransh dismissed Indrajith as well. He scored 72 runs from 149 balls including nine fours.

Earlier on Day 1, Rana and Axar Patel took two wickets each to reduce India C from 43/4. While Rana dismissed both openers Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan, Axar dismissed Aryan Juyal and Rajat Patidar.

Axar rescues India D

Before bagging a couple of wickets, Indian all-rounder Axar rescued India D from a batting collapse. He walked in to bat when India D had lost half the side for 34. Axar hit six sixes and as many fours in his 86-run from from 118 balls. He got support from Arshdeep Singh who scored 13 runs from 33 balls. They shared an 82-run partnership for the ninth wicket. India D were bowled out for 164 in 48.3 overs. Vyshak took three wickets whereas Kamboj and Himanshu Chauhan had two scalps each.
