Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is set to compete against Babar Azam's in match 19 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, on June 9 (Sunday). The Men in Green are coming into this match with a big loss against host United States in their opening game and with a rain threat over the clash against India, their chances to qualify for the Super 8 stage have reached a tricky spot.
Rain has already started to show its effect as it caused a delay in the toss. If this continues and the weather doesn't get cleared, it can lead to a potential washout and that won't be good news for the Pakistan cricket team.

New York weather forecast
The New York weather forecast predicts rain and it can be a threat to the much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan. The precipitation chances would go up to 51-61 percent, which is a little bothering. As per the report from Accuweather, there is a 51% chance of rain at 11 AM local time (8:30 PM IST), just half an hour after the starting time of the match. There are chances that bad weather might lead to a toss delay or even mess with the match proceedings. Both teams will have to share a point if rain and bad weather somehow lead to a washout.
Can Pakistan still qualify for Super 8 if rain causes a washout?
Pakistan are coming into this match after suffering an embarrassing loss against the co-hosts USA in a match that went on till the Super Over. They currently have zero points but are still alive in the race for the Super 8 stage. However, a washout or loss in the match against India might be the dead end for them. If the IND vs PAK match gets washed out due to rain, Pakistan will have one point in two matches and meanwhile, the USA will be on top with four points, and behind them will be India with three.
However, this won't throw the Men in Green out of the race but their qualification scenario will be dependent on how other teams perform in the remaining group matches. Pakistan would not only have to win their remaining matches by a big margin but would also have to hope that India or the USA lose their remaining two games.
