In what came as scary news for Team India and its fans in the early hours of November 08 (Tuesday), captain Rohit Sharma sustained an injury to his right arm during an optional net session in Adelaide ahead of the Men in Blue's high-voltage 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final against England.
India Today's Consulting Editor, Nikhil Naz, who is currently in Australia covering the T20 World Cup reported that Rohit was hit by a ball in the nets while he was practicing against throwdown experts. Lately, the Indian captain has been sharpening his skills against throwdown bowlers rather than full-fledged bowlers. The 35-year-old was hit on his right arm and after that, the right-handed batter sat down for some time, assessed his injury and returned to the nets to start the net session again. Rohit then played a couple of more deliveries in the nets but was clearly in visible pain. After that, the Indian captain stopped training for a brief period before re-starting the net session under the supervision of support staff.
The extent of Rohit's injury is still not known and the Indian team management along with over a billion fans would hope that it doesn't turn out to be a severe injury that forces the captain to miss the crunch semi-final game against England.
The Indian captain hasn't been in the best of forms in the ongoing multi-national tournament. Rohit tallies just 89 runs in five matches so far at a strike rate of 109.87 and average of 17.80. The Hitman registered a half-century against minnows Netherlands but his knock was far from convincing. India would hope for Rohit - the batter - to regain his vintage best as the Men in Blue's batting line-up will be put to a stern test against the quality English bowling attack in the semi-final.
