Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has refuted the rumours of getting hitched if the country goes on to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The 23-years-old insisted that his focus is very much on the World Cup and not on getting married. The leg-spin wizard denied that he once said, "I will marry when Afghanistan win a World Cup.”

“Actually, I was so shocked when I heard this because, to be honest, I never made a statement that I will marry once I win the World Cup. I just said that in the next few years I have more cricket and three World Cups. So, my focus will be on cricket rather than on getting married,” Rashid told AFP.

The T20 specialist made his debut for Afghanistan at the tender age of 17 and has gone on to play 51 T20Is and more than 280 games in the format for several franchises around the world. The former Afghanistan skipper is just five wickets away from entering the elite list of bowlers who have taken 100 wickets in T20I cricket. He will also become the fastest bowler to the reach the feat.

The young cricketer has plied his trade in T20 cricket in England, Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa and the Indian Premier League in India.

Afghanistan stunned the defending champions West Indies by 56-runs on Wednesday in their final warm-up match ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Afghanistan will begin their World Cup campaign on October 25.
