Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 due to hamstring injury. Shakib struggled with his left hamstring during Bangladesh’s clash against West Indies on October 29.

Despite the hamstring injury in the previous match, he completed his spell of four overs conceding 28 runs. In the run chase, the 34-year-old came out to open the innings but got out in the powerplay overs.

Bangladesh are practically out of the tournament with three straight wins at the Super 12 stage. They are scheduled to play South Africa and Australia on November 2 and 4 after disappointing performances in the first three matches.

Shakib is the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 11 wickets to his name from six matches. The left-arm spinner recently became the leading wicket-taker in the format surpassing former Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga. The all-rounder also went past former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi to become all-time highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup events.

In the batting department, Shakib did not impress with the bat registering scores of 10, 4 and 9 against Sri Lanka, England and West Indies. Earlier at the qualifier stage, he registered two scores in 40s against Papua New Guinea and Oman to help Bangladesh qualify after losing the first match to Scotland.
