The final league match of the Women's World Cup 2025 between India and Bangladesh was unfortunately called off due to incessant rain. Before the stoppage, India was in pursuit of a revised DLS target of 126 in 27 overs. Due to Pratika Rawal's injury, Smriti Mandhana walked out to open alongside a new partner Amanjot Kaur.
IND vs BAN match washed due to rain
Mandhana picked up where she had left off in the previous game, while Kaur played the second fiddle. Bangladesh struggled to make an impact with the ball, a task made more difficult by the wet conditions, and their efforts were further hampered by lapses in the field. India was cruising in the chase, and were strongly placed at 57/0 after 8.4 overs, when the rain returned, bringing an abrupt and final end to the game.
Earlier, India had opted to bowl first, but a spell of rain immediately after the toss had already reduced the game to 43 overs per side. Renuka Singh Thakur showcased her threat with the new ball, troubling the Bangladeshi openers, who struggled to get her away. Neither opener could make a significant impact, and rain returned again 12.2 overs into the innings, just after Nigar Sultana Joty arrived at the crease.
This second interruption forced the match to be reduced further, from 43 to just 27 overs, leaving Bangladesh in a tricky situation to approach their innings. Sharmin Akhter managed to hold one end, and although Sobhana Mostary sparked a brief flurry of runs, it wasn’t enough. Bangladesh ultimately finished their innings with 119.
It was the seventh match of the Women's World Cup 2025 which got washed out.
