India veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara feels that Virat Kohli is struggling to score runs against Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 because his technique is not made for the new ball and he should come to bat after 10 overs at least.

Pujara further said that Kohli smashed a century in the Perth Test because he came to bat when the ball was old.

"We were discussing that he has been forced to play the new ball. He has gotten out whenever he has played the new ball. When he played the old ball, he scored a hundred in Perth. So that's also a very big point," said Pujara on Star sports.

Kohli who is one of India's highest run-getters in Australia during the last editions of the Test series just scored three runs in the first inning of the Gabba Test. Pujara backed the struggling Kohli saying that batting is not easy when a team already lost three wickets because the bowlers and on high confidence and fresh.

"His technique is not made for the new ball. His batting should come after 10, 15 or 20 overs. If he plays the new ball, the bowlers are fresh, and their confidence is also high. When they get two wickets, the entire team is charged up. So when you come to bat at that stage, it's not easy," Pujara added.

Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten ton in the second innings of the first Test match played in Perth after KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a 201-run partnership. Apart from an unbeaten ton, Kohli just scored 26 runs in his last four innings of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
