Nitish Kumar Reddy smashed maiden ton in Boxing Day Test of BGT 2024-25.

Michael Clarke suggested Rohit Sharma & Co. to promote Nitish Reddy's batting order.

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke lavished praise on India batting all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy for his performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The young batter who made his debut in Australia during the Perth Test smashed a century in his last outing in the Boxing Day Test when India were in a spot of bother at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

Clarke also suggested Indian management for promotion in the batting order. Nitish's maiden Test ton helped the young batter stitch his name on the MCG's honours board.

"Reddy, this young kid batting at number eight, is a genius. I think he has definitely got to bat seven if not six. He has been India's leading run-scorer, 21 years of age, unbelievable. He has been underrated in the entire series," Clarke said on the Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast.

"He has impressed everyone. He has not feared any Australian bowler. He has been patient when he has needed to be patient. He has batted with the tail extremely well. He has shown his intent. He bats, bowls and fields," Clarke said.

"This guy is a very good find for the Indian cricket team. I think he is good enough to bat at number six. So what a great option for India going into the last Test match," he added.

However, Nitish Reddy's ton went in vain as Pat Cummins-led Australia defeated India by 184 runs in the fourth Test match to take a 2-1 lead in the five-Test match series and now both teams will lock horns against each other for the fifth Test match which is scheduled to start from January 3 to 7 in Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

The upcoming Test match will be a do-or-die clash for Inndia to stay in the contention for the World Test Championship (WTC) final scheduled to take place in England next year.
