Jasprit Bumrah-led Indian cricket team defeated Pat Cummins' Australia by 295 runs to breach the Perth fortress and create history in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which was played at the Optus Stadium in Perth, on November 25 (Monday). This was also India's biggest red-ball win on Australian soil by run margin.

India create history

The Indian team has become the first visiting side to beat Australia in a Test match at the iconic Optus Stadium in Perth. Aussies were undefeated at the venue and had previously defeated India as well here back in 2018. Bumrah-led side is the first team to get the better of hosts here.

In their previous tour to land down under, they breached the Gabba fortress to earn a famous win and now they have done the same here in Optus. The win might not be as big as the Brisbane one but will be historic forever.

Bumrah on India's win

After the match, India's stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah was asked about his message to the team after they were bowled out for 150 runs in the first inning. The premium pacer revealed that he was backing on their experience here and told everyone to have faith in their ability.

"Very happy. We were put under pressure in the first innings, but the way we responded was great. I played here in 2018 - I remember the wicket started soft. This one was less spicy, we were really well prepared. I told everyone to keep faith in your ability. Jaiswal's best Test innings so far, he left the ball well, I didn't see Virat out of form - difficult to judge that on difficult pitches. But he was good in the nets. We always enjoy the support from the crowd, when the backing is there we feel good," said Bumrah in the post-match presentation.

Now the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played at the Adelaide Oval staring December 6. There will be a warm-up game for visitors prior to the match in this long 10-day gap.
