He makes big remark on Mohammed Shami's inclusion in BGT.

Premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah is all set to take the leadership role of the Indian cricket team in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener which will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth, starting from November 22. This will be the second time in red-ball cricket in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who will be unavailable for the first Test after recently becoming a father. Ahead of the opening game, Bumrah made a big revelation on his longtime bowling partner Mohammed Shami's inclusion on this tour.

Bumrah on Shami

While talking about the combination of the team, Bumrah gave an insight on India's plan for Shami and revealed that fans can soon see him in Australia.

"We have finalised our combination. You'll come to know it tomorrow. Shami has been an integral part and the management is keeping a close eye. If everything goes well, you might see him here as well," said Jasprit Bumrah in the pre-match press conference.

Bumrah has a stellar record in Australia, having claimed 32 wickets in seven Test matches, including a six-wicket haul. Following victories in 2018–19 and 2020–21, India is hoping to win three straight series in Australia.

Morkel on Bumrah's leadership

Jasprit Bumrah's leadership abilities were praised by bowling coach Morne Morkel prior to the first Test match against Australia. According to Morkel, Bumrah can provide the young pacers with guidance in the forthcoming five-match Test series.

"Jassi is a guy who immediately put his hands up and wanted the leadership role. He has been very successful in the past, he knows what to expect, and he speaks well in the dressing room. He is a guy who will lead from the front with the ball in hand and younger guys will follow him," Morkel said in the pre-match press conference.

"For him, it’s an exciting challenge ahead. But again, we have got Virat (Kohli), KL (Rahul) and a lot of experienced guys who will help him and I’m sure when he is bowling, it will bring a bit of calmness into the team. In terms of leadership and how he looks at the game, he’s a natural leader for me," Morkel added.
