Rohit Sharma-led team India are currently in Australia preparing for the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which is scheduled to start from November 22. Indian captain Rohit will miss the first Test match and in his absence vice captain Jasprit Bumrah will lead Men in Blue in Perth.
Apart from Rohit, young batter Shubman Gill is also set to miss the first Test match as he got an injury while practising. Gill has fractured his thumb while fielding in the slips during India's match simulation at WACA Stadium in Perth. The upcoming Test series is important for India to confirm their spot for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final which will take place in England next year. India needs to register a 4-0 win in to seal their berth in the WTC Final without depending on other teams' results.

Young fast-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy who is yet to make his Test debut is set to feature for India in Perth. Apart from Reddy, Devdutt Padikkal who was the part of India A squad is all set to feature for the Bumrah-led side for the Perth Test.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 schedule
The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia is set to kick off on November 22 with the opening Test in Perth. The second Test, taking place from December 6 to 10 at Adelaide Oval, will feature the thrilling day-night format under the floodlights. Following this, the action will shift to Brisbane's Gabba for the third Test, scheduled from December 14 to 18. The traditional Boxing Day Test will be held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, marking the series' penultimate chapter. The fifth and final Test is slated for January 3 to 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where the series is expected to conclude in a captivating finale.
