The second match of the two-Test series between India and West Indies in the Port of Spain saw former India skipper Virat Kohli create history with an unbeaten innings of 87 runs in the 500th match of his career. But, it actually took the star batter 20 balls to penetrate the West Indies fielder, with Kohli taking a massive 21 balls to open his account.
Shubman Gill could score only 10 runs
Team India got a shock at that time in the 36th over of the match when the in-form Shubman Gill, trying to prove himself at number three, managed to score only 10 runs in 12 balls with 2 fours to his name. Strong field set-up for Kohli
West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite welcomed Kohli with two slips, a point, cover and a gully fielder. This made Kohli struggle a lot to open his account. After the start that Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India, the Caribbean players wanted to spoil Kohli's party but failed to do so. Kohli remained unbeaten on 87 runs
After opening his account in the 21st ball, Kohli left no stone unturned to make his 500th match memorable. After initially troubling Kohli, the West Indies bowlers failed to contain him as he scored an unbeaten 87 runs in 161 balls with 8 fours.
In doing so, Kohli is now just 13 runs away from the 76th century of his international career.
