MS DHONI

CSK STRUGGLED UNDER RAVINDRA JADEJA

CSK faced challenges under Jadeja's captaincy, securing only 2 wins out of 8 matches. After this, Dhoni resumed his role as captain but CSK failed to advance to the second round of IPL 2022.

In IPL 2023, Dhoni led the CSK from the outset. The team made a remarkable comeback, clinching the IPL title. In the final, Jadeja's boundary on the last ball sealed the victory for his team.

It's confirmed that Dhoni will continue to lead CSK in IPL 2024. However, there might be a change in captaincy for CSK in IPL 2025. The potential replacement for Dhoni remains uncertain, with Ruturaj Gaikwad emerging as a strong candidate for the captaincy role.

VIRAT KOHLI

Virat Kohli made a surprising announcement before the second half of IPL 2021 as he stepped down as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

In the IPL 2022 mega-auction, RCB signed Faf du Plessis and handed him the team's charge. Kohli continues to play under du Plessis and assumes the captaincy role in du Plessis' absence.

Not long before relinquishing his RCB captaincy, Kohli had also stepped down as the captain of India's T20I team. Four months later, he resigned from the Test captaincy as well. Currently, he serves as a specialist batter under Rohit Sharma's captaincy in international cricket.

SACHIN TENDULKAR

Sachin Tendulkar joined Mumbai Indians (MI) as their icon player before the IPL 2008 mega-auction and assumed the role of team captain. He served as MI's captain full-time from 2008 to 2011 before stepping down before IPL 2012.

Following Tendulkar's decision to relinquish the captaincy, Harbhajan Singh took over as MI's captain for IPL 2012. However, he also resigned before IPL 2013, leading to Ricky Ponting taking charge. Ponting's tenure as captain was short-lived as he stepped down during the season, and Rohit Sharma was appointed captain.

Despite stepping down from the captaincy, Tendulkar remained a vital part of MI. He retired from the IPL after winning the 2013 season under Rohit Sharma's leadership. Tendulkar played his final match for MI in the 2013 Champions League final, in which MI emerged victorious.
