In a lighthearted exchange ahead of the IPL 2024 final, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer sent a message to his counterpart Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) Pat Cummins. The much-anticipated clash is set to take place on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, with both teams vying for the coveted trophy.
Iyer acknowledged Cummins' impressive leadership of the SRH squad throughout the season, where they secured 8 wins out of 14 league matches (with one washout). However, Iyer playfully reminded Cummins that KKR has proven to be a tough opponent for SRH this season. Shreyas humorously pointed out that while Cummins might be familiar with the opposition, this time they'll be facing the purple and gold of KKR, not just another team.

“Dear Pat, today I thought it may be fun to drop you a little note. First off, let me just say you have done an amazing job, leading the Orange Army this season. This season, we have given you a tough time. Let me remind you, you face the same opponent at a different venue. But today, you will be against colours that will be familiar to you, Purple and Gold. Here's to a thrilling final. May the best team win. And by best, I mean ours. Ami KKR, you opponent, Shreyas Iyer,” Shreyas said in the pre-match press-conference ahead of IPL 2024 final.
