(New Delhi) Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) new-recruit Umran Malik is bowling fireballs in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Malik bowled a thunderbolt of a delivery to Devdutt Padikkal as the speedometer clocked it at 152.95 kmph in his second over of the match. The 153kmph delivery is now the fastest delivery bowled in the season. Also, it is the fastest delivery by an Indian bowler ever in IPL.

The Jammu and Kashmir express pacer bowled three consecutive deliveries over 150kmph in the ninth over of RCB’s run chase. The third delivery he bowled was the record-breaking one. The 21-year-old broke Navdeep Saini’s record of 152.85kmph, which he bowled in 2019 season.

Overall, it is the 18th fastest delivery of IPL over the years. The fastest ball of IPL was bowled by Delhi Capitals (DC) Anrich Nortje clocking at 156.22. The three fastest deliveries bowled in IPL belong to Nortje. He is followed by two more South African fast bowlers Dale Steyn (154.40kmph) and Kagiso Rabada (154.23kmph).

This is not the first time Malik has crossed the 150kmph mark in IPL. On his IPL debut, the SRH bowler bowled a 151.03 kmph delivery against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as well.

The young SRH bowler was included in the side after frontline SRH bowler T Natarajan in the side after he contracted Covid-19 virus. He impressed everyone with his raw pace but did not get a wicket on his debut. Against RCB, Malik got his maiden IPL wicket dismissing wicketkeeper-batter Srikar Bharat. He finished with an economy rate of 5.25, conceding 21 runs from his four overs.
