Getting out for a duck is always embarrassing for a batter whether he/she bats in top order or lower order. Getting two in a row is even worse as it dents any batter’s confidence. But, registering six ducks in a row is not only disastrous for a batter but also rare in nature. South African batter Nathan Gilchrist is going through a horrible phase with the bat as he has registered six consecutive ducks.

In the ongoing County Championship Division One, Gilchrist has been dismissed for three pairs which include three golden ducks. Not much is expected from a tailender but bagging six ducks in a row is still disappointing for any side.

The Kent batter is on the verge of breaking a world record which he would not want to happen. In the history of First-Class cricket, 11 batters had registered six consecutive ducks before. The list includes Jammu & Kashmir-born Rohit Sharma. The 27-year-old Indian bowler achieved this feat three years ago.

Next chance

Kent will face Surrey in their next fixture which will begin from May 12 at County Ground, Bristol. Gilchrist would like to put an end to the streak of ducks.

While Gilchrist has not gotten off the mark in the last three weeks, he has taken eight wickets from three games.

First-Class record

The right-handed batter has so far scored 99 runs from 17 First-Class innings at an average of 6.18 including high score of 25. In the bowling department, the 21-year-old has 42 wickets to his name at an average of 26.69 including one five-wicket haul.
