IPL 2022: Who will have the upper hand between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in inaugural match?

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on two-time title holders in the 15th edition of the extravagant Indian Premier League (IPL) which is all set to kick off from March 26 (Saturday). Going by the head to head records between the two teams, the MS Dhoni-led Yellow army will have an edge over Shreyas Iyer-led KKR, however, that doesn't lower the intensity of the match in any which way as these two protagonists have played out some thrilling matches over the years.

The lung opener will also give KKR a chance to avenge 2021 final loss where they lost the summit clash by 27 runs and were denied the third IPL title.


Going by the head to head records between the two teams, the MS Dhoni-led Yellow army will have an edge over Shreyas Iyer-led KKR, however, that doesn't lower the intensity of the match in any which way as these two protagonists have played out some thrilling matches over the years.


CSK and KKR have clashed against each other 25 times in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history.


Out of all these clashes, Chennai Super Kings have registered 17 wins. Meanwhile, KKR, on the other hand, have won 8 games. One match between the two teams had no result. CSK beat KKR thrice in the last season, including in the final of IPL 2021 in Dubai.


CSK have made the highest score of 220 runs while playing against Kolkata, while KKR have made the highest score of 202 runs against Chennai. Talking about the lowest score, Chennai's lowest score against KKR is 114 runs and Kolkata's lowest score against Chennai is 108 runs in IPL. Also, CSK have won each of their last four IPL matches against KKR
