Delhi Capitals (DC), who face Mumbai Indians (MI) on the first match of the double-header Saturday of the Indian Premier League (IPL) donned a special kit to celebrate India’s diversity. The new kit is of a lighter shade as compared to their regular kit and has a rainbow in the torso area. This is not the first time the franchise will be sporting a new jersey. During the 2020 edition of the tournament, Capitals went with a similar attire during their clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). It brought good luck for the team as they pocketed a convincing win over RCB.
DC shared the news on their social media handle with the caption, “Celebrating the diversity of our beautiful country by embracing a colourful jersey.”
RCB is known to experiment with jerseys for special occasions. While they have donned the green jersey in the past in the league to support environment, the 2021 edition saw Virat Kohli and his boys swap their regular kit with blue kit in their support for the COVID Warriors.
On October 1, Capitals became the second team after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to seal a playoff berth in the 2021 IPL following Punjab Kings win over Kolkata Knight Riders. With few league matches still to go for DC, they will aim to seal a top two spot.
