English pacer Mark Wood was ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the remainder of the series between England and West Indies due to an elbow injury. The Lucknow Super Giants pacer, left the field due to the injury, on the third day of the first test against West Indies, in Antigua.
Now, in a big development, a source within the franchise told Sports Tak that they know how important was Wood for them and they are internally discussing his replacements and there are few names which the team management is eyeing but they haven't taken any final call.
Possible replacements
According to the source, Sheldon Cottrell, Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson and some more names are being discussed but no final call have been made and the Lucknow Super Giants team management will soon decide and will make an announcement.
Previously, regarding the English bowler’s injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released a statement.
"Scan results have confirmed that Wood has a right elbow injury. He will return to the UK next week for a specialist opinion regarding the management of his injury," ECB said in a statement.
"The Durham quick, who was due to play in the Indian Premier League, will now miss the tournament and will have an indefinite break from cricket until more information is determined from the elbow specialist. England men will confirm whether a replacement will be called up in due course ahead of the third Test in Grenada."

Defending champions CSK will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the first match of the 15th edition of IPL on March 26, at the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai.
Mumbai Indians frachise led by Rohit Sharma will have Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Lucknow Super Giants in Group A of the 2022 edition of IPL.
On the other hand, Group B is comprised of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.
