The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is going to start in the month of March. And the mega auction 2022 for the 15th edition of IPL will take place on February 12 and February 13, in Bengaluru. With the advent of two new teams (Ahmedabad and Lucknow), ten teams will be involved in the IPL 2022 mega auction this time. 

 

If the situation of Covid-19 pandemic remains under control, then this time IPL will be held entirely in India. Cricket fans and followers are eagerly waiting to see new players donning new colours this time but it is also important to mention that many notable players will not take part in the upcoming edition of IPL 2022. It is time to talk about such players who will not be seen playing in the IPL in 2022.

 

Chris Gayle

Since 2008, this will be the first time that Chris Gayle will not be taking part in the IPL. One of the biggest players of IPL, Gayle's journey started with Kolkata Knight Riders and ended with Punjab Kings. In between, he also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2011 to 2017. The West Indies all-rounder has scored 4965 runs in 142 matches in IPL, so far, at an impressive strike rate of 148.96 and with an average of 39.72. Gayle has hit 357 sixes in IPL and has bagged six centuries in IPL.

 

AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers or popularly known as Mr 360 was known for his famous match-winning knocks. His presence was enough to terrify the opposition bowlers. The former South African batter, who played for Delhi Daredevils from 2008 to 2011 and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for almost a decade, will not be seen playing in IPL in 2022. The South African wicketkeeper-batsman scored 5162 runs in 184 IPL at an average of 39.70.

 

Harbhajan Singh 

The overseas players are not the only ones who will not be taking part in the IPL 2022 edition, there are some prominent Indian players as well who will not be seen playing in the IPL this time and one such cricketer is Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan's journey had started with Mumbai Indians in 2008 and ended with Kolkata Knight Risers in 2021. Harbhajan, who lifted the prestigious IPL trophy three times for Mumbai Indians and once with Chennai Super Kings, had played 163 matches in the IPL and scalped 150 wickets at an economy of 7.07. 

 

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer

After England cricket team’s dismal show in the recently concluded Ashes Test series, it was speculated that many England players will not be playing IPL in 2022 and in reality something like that has happened. IPL fans will miss English cricketers- Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer this time. Archer has played 35 matches for Rajasthan Royals from 2018 to 2020 and has taken 46 wickets in total. Ben Stokes also showed his terrific all-round abilities by scoring 920 runs in 43 matches in IPL including a century. The English all-rounder had taken 28 wickets at an economy of 8.55. But these two players will not be featuring in the upcoming IPL 2022.

 

Mitchell Starc

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has not appeared in the IPL since 2015. And this time also the fast bowler is set to miss the grand cricket tournament.

 

Sam Curran

Sam Curran had played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2019 to 2021 in IPL. But this time the English cricketer will not play in IPL due to rehabilitation. Curran has so far scored 337 runs in 32 matches at a strike rate of 149.77. On the other hand, in bowling department he did a formidable job as he claimed 32 wickets at an economy of 9.21.
