Delhi Capitals (DC) David Warner's run spree in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) was snapped by a duck in the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday (April 29).
After registering back-to-back victories followed by five successive defeats, Warner-led DC took on SRH and were put to bowl first. SRH rode on sensational knocks from Abhishek Sharma (67 off 36) and Heinrich Klaasen (53 off 27) to post a daunting total of 197/6. Delhi couldn't put leash on SRH's batters despite Mitchell Marsh's stunning spell of 4/27.
Warner and Phil Salt came to open DC's innings. But before DC could start their chase, they were handed a big jolt right on the second ball of the first over. Bhuvneshwar kept the ball outside the off, with an intent to force an error from the southpaw and Warner did the same as he swung his bat hard to pull the length ball through the on side. However, he played himself down as Bhuvneshwar's ball found the inside edge of Warner's bat and sneaked right into the stumps. Warner had to return to pavilion after registering a two-ball duck. After Warner's dismissal the DC coach Ricky Ponting was spotted giving a death stare following the incident.

Phil Salt combined with Mitchell Marsh to steady DC's boat as they started belting SRH bowlers left, right and centre. Salt played a stunning knock of 59 off 35 before falling prey Mayank Markande in the 12th over. Marsh too launched a blitzkrieg with his lightning knock of 39-ball 63 but the debutant Akeal Hosein halted his stay in the 14th over and dashed DC's hopes of winning the match.
Rest of the DC's batters couldn't do much and succumbed to SRH by 9 runs and continued to stay at bottom of the points table with just two wins in eight matches.
