With little over a month to go, the speculation surrounding the name of the Ahmedabad side could be coming to an end as the CVC Capital Partners are about to unveil the name of the new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. According to rumours, 'Ahmedabad Titans' is the preferred name of the franchise, however, the official announcement is still awaited days ahead of the IPL auctions.

The IPL auctions take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru, with franchises entitled to announce their team names. Two new franchises have entered the IPL this season in the form of Lucknow and Ahmedabad, while the former had already named their franchise 'Lucknow Super Giants', Ahmedabad were still working on the name.

Pandya, Gill and Rashid part of the franchise

Owned by CVC Capital Partners, a reported sum of Rs 5625 crores was paid by the company to own the franchise. Recently they announced Hardik Pandya as the captain of the side while also signing Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill. They are set to enter the auctions with a hefty purse of Rs 52 crores still in their pocket. They are poised to go big in the market trying to attract some of the lucrative names in the world of cricket.

World-class stadium

Still unconfirmed, the IPL is set to be staged in Maharashtra, so there remains a very small hope of home matches for the franchise. However, once they return they will play their matches at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, one of the world's largest sporting venues. With world-class players and stadium, the so-called Titans would be destined for success in the first time of asking, but much will depend upon their deals in the auctions.

The latest season kick starts in the final week of March, with discussions still ongoing on the location of matches. Three stadiums in Mumbai and one stadium in Pune is reported to host the mega event in strict bio-bubble protocols.
