Quinton De Kock breaks Shikhar Dhawan's sensational IPL record after 97-run knock in KKR's win over RR

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finally notched their first win of IPL 2025 after a dominant 8-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 26. The hero of the chase for KKR was undoubtedly Quinton de Kock. In the process, this star wicketkeeper-batter also etched his name in the record books by achieving a big milestone – the first player ever to do so.

Quinton de Kock spearheaded KKR's chase right from the start and anchored the innings brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on a fantastic 97 off just 61 deliveries. His masterful knock included 8 boundaries and 6 towering sixes, guiding his team to stunning win. This incredible innings now stands as the highest individual score ever recorded in an IPL match held in Guwahati. De Kock surpassed the previous record of 86, set by Shikhar Dhawan for the Punjab Kings against the same opponent back in IPL 2023. Moreover, this stellar performance makes the South African the first player in IPL history to achieve a score of 90 or more in a game played in Guwahati.

Quinton de Kock's incredible innings in Guwahati has also put him just a whisker away from another record at that venue in the IPL. He now holds the second-highest run tally there, with 97 runs under his belt. Interestingly, he's trailing just by a single run behind Jos Buttler, who has accumulated 98 runs across his two appearances at the same stadium.
