BCCI will be rescheduling the Indian Premier League game between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants. The high-octane clash which was earlier set to be played at the iconic Eden Gardens will now be played at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Snehashish Ganguly, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, stated that Ram Navami might make it impossible for the Kolkata Police to provide match security.
As per earlier reports, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari declared that more than 20,000 processions would be held in West Bengal on Ram Navami, raising the need for increased security throughout the state. On Tuesday, March 18, after two rounds of discussions with the city police, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly was informed by the police that they would not be able to provide enough security for the match at Eden Garden.

A full house was anticipated for the match between KKR and LSG, which is owned by Sanjiv Goenka, the head of the RPSG Group. Because Goenka owns the Mohun Bagan Super Giants in the Indian Super League, LSG has a lot of local support. The IPL match between the Rajasthan Royals and KKR was also postponed last season because of security concerns surrounding Ram Navami.
Defending champions KKR will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 to kick off the 2025 IPL season at Eden Gardens. The game will be preceded by a lavish 35-minute opening ceremony, which is expected to feature performances by actress Disha Patani and well-known vocalist Shreya Ghoshal. ICC chairman Jay Shah and other dignitaries are also expected to attend the ceremony.
