Explosive Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Travis Head is set to miss his side's upcoming IPL clash against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as he is yet to arrive in India. SRH head coach Daniel Vettori provided a major update on the Australian's health on Sunday, revealing that the batter had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and will arrive in India on Monday morning.
Travis Head may not feature in SRH's remaining matches
Threre is also no guarantee if Head will be playing in any of SRH's remaining matches. The Hyderabad-based franchise is already out of the playoff race as they currently are placed on the eighth spot on the IPL points table, accumulating just seven points in 11 matches.
Following their match against LSG, the Hyderabad-based franchise will be facing-off against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 23 at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium before concluding their league stage with the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25 at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi.
“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori told reporters at the press conference.
SRH have had quite a disappointing season as after reaching the final in 2024, the side has underperformed big time and have only been able to record three victories and have ended up losing on seven occasions. After making a brilliant start to the campaign with a thumping 44-run win over Rajasthan Royals, SRH's season ended up crumbling.
Head, who had a terrific campaign last season where he scored a total of 567 runs, has looked like a shadow of himself in the 2025 season, putting up 281 runs in 11 matches. However, it isn't just Head who has underperformed as other star players like Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen and even skipper Pat Cummins haven't been able to give standout performances throughout the campaign.
