Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announces massive 10 lakh cash reward for Rajasthan Royals star Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a prize money of INR 10 lakh for Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his record-breaking century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) star smashed a 54-ball ton during his last outing against the Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Suryavanshi becomes the youngest ever batter to smash a T20 century and the second-fastest to hit a ton in the cash-rich league's history after Chris Gayle's 30-ball heroic effort against Pune Warriors in 2013. That helped the RR to register an eight-wicket win in their must-win game to stay in the playoffs race.

Nitish congratulated Suryavanshi for his impeccable performance during Rajasthan's resounding 8-wicket triumph and on Tuesday announced a prize of Rs 10 lakh from the state government.

"Congratulations and best wishes to Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar, who became the youngest player (14 years) to score a century in the history of IPL. I met Mr Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his father in 2024, and at that time, I wished him a bright future. After his brilliant performance in IPL, I also congratulated him over the phone. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young cricketer from Bihar, will also be given a prize money of Rs 10 lakh by the state government. I wish that Vaibhav creates new records for the Indian team in the future and brings glory to the country," Nitish wrote on X.

RR's performance in IPL

After registering a dominating win against GT, RR are currently in eighth position in the points table with three wins in their 10 outings of the tournament. The franchise recently faced a huge blow as their regular captain, Sanju Samson, got an abdominal injury during their clash against Delhi Capitals (DC). The wicketkeeper batter has missed the last two clashes, and as per sources close to Sports Tak, he will also miss the upcoming clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI), which is scheduled to take place on May 1 at the same venue.
