Saikia on Mustafizur Rahman
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia exclusively told Sports Tak that the IPL governing council asked KKR to release Bangladesh star Mustafizur Rahman. The BCCI also said that they will allow KKR to pick his replacement for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.
"Due to the recent developments that are going on all across, BCCI has instructed the franchise KKR to release one of their players, Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh, from their squad, and BCCI has also said that if they ask for any replacement, BCCI is going to allow that replacement" Saikia told

KKR spent Rs 9.20 crore to get the services of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur for the 19th edition of the cash-rich league from a base price of Rs 2 crore after an intense bidding war with Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at the players' auction last month. Notably, Mustafizur is the only Bangladeshi player who got picked in the mini-auction for the IPL 2026.
Why did BCCI advise KKR to release Mustafizur Rahman?
Amid growing demands from Indian politicians that the neighbouring country's cricketer, Mustafizur Rahman, should not be allowed to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in view of violence against minorities in Bangladesh.
