GT Team Bus Short Circuit Incident: Gujarat Titans (GT) players had a tough day on the field and off it. After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), as they were headed to the team hotel, their team bus suffered a short circuit leading to a small fire.
The players and support staff got off the bus immediately and none of them suffered any injuries. However, the players were stranded on the road for nearly an hour.

Earlier, GT lost to RCB by five wickets at their homeground, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on May 31. After GT openers -- Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan -- were dismissed cheaply, GT managed to post 155/8 despite Washington Sundar's unbeaten half-century. In reply, RCB openers Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli went berserk in the powerplay overs. They brought the run rate down. While Iyer departed for a 16-ball 32 cameo, Kohli anchored the run chase and scored an unbeaten 42-ball 75 as RCB got over the line with five wickets in hand and two overs to spare.
This was RCB’s second consecutive IPL title win. On the other hand, this was GT’s third final appearance. GT lost the final for the second time since they won the title in their debut season in 2022.
Solanki doffs his hat to RCB
GT’s Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki congratulated for the stellar run. Despite the defeat, he is proud of the group of players that took the team to the final.
"What I'll say is, I'll begin by congratulating RCB. They've had an outstanding campaign. They finished at the top of the table in the league stage and then went on to beat us twice, so we must take that on board,” Solanki said in the post-match press conference.
"First and foremost, congratulations to RCB. As far as our campaign is concerned, we're immensely proud as a group of what we've achieved. There's no question that we would have liked to have gone one step further, but there are a lot of other teams that would have gladly taken our place as well."
