In the Indian Premier League (IPL) Eliminator, Rajasthan Royals (RR) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stamped his authority with a carnage-filled 29-ball 97 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Sooryavanshi missed the century but it was enough to thwart SRH’s plans and help RR register a 47-run win to book a Qualifier 2 date with Gujarat Titans (GT). Before the Eliminator, SRH skipper Pat Cummins said that he has ‘Plan B and C’ ready for Sooryavanshi. He also claimed that the SRH bowlers had kept him relatively quiet in the Jaipur clash despite the 37-ball 103. On May 27, Sooryavanshi kicked it up a notch with his scathing attack uprfront. After the game, the 15-year-old revealed that he doesn’t care about the opposition’s plan and keeps on working on himself.
“If I feel I’m having trouble somewhere, I work on that. I don’t think about what the opposition is planning, that’s their plan. I focus on what my plan is, and I just try to play normal cricket,” the opener said in the post-match presentation.
Sooryavanshi departed for a 29-ball 97. Had he cleared the boundary, he would’ve broken legendary Chris Gayle’s record for fastest century in IPL history which is from 30 balls. While the youngster was dejected and reluctant to leave the field after getting out, he is not worried about missing the three figures as his current goal is to win the trophy.

“I found out only after I got out. At that time, my only focus was to contribute as much as I could because centuries will keep happening, but right now the focus is on how to win the trophy,” the young southpaw said.
