LIVE IPL Retentions ahead of mini auction: Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been shifted to the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This is the franchise’s biggest-ever trade deal in the history of the tournament. It made sense that the Super Kings placed the bid with an eye toward life after their biggest star, MS Dhoni.
Sanju Samson was bought for Rs 18 crore and will now be playing much closer to home after leaving the Rajasthan Royals. To make this happen, CSK had to part ways with one of their most valuable players over the last ten years, Ravindra Jadeja.
Right now, the deal looks like a bigger win for CSK than for RR, even though Rajasthan have also brought in Sam Curran for Rs 2.4 crore as part of the three-player trade.

Lucknow Super Giants full list of retained released players and remaning purse
Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has had a forgetful season in the last edition of the Indian Premier League, where the franchise finished seventh in the points table with six wins in the 14 outings of the cash-rich league. Sanju Samson's reacts after shifting to Chennai Super Kings
Indian wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson penned down a heartfelt note of gratitude to Rajasthan Royals (RR) after shifting to the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.
Taking to Instagram, Samson wrote, "We are only here for a short period of time" Gave MY everything to this franchise, enjoyed some great cricket, made some lifetime relations, treated everyone in the franchise as my family..And when its time..I AM moving On..Shall always be grateful for everything @rajasthanroyals."

CSK to release Matheesha Pathirana ahead of IPL 2026 mini auction
The Sri Lankan speedster Matheesha Pathirana reportedly was released by the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings as he had a forgettable outing in the last edition of the tournament and had struggled in international cricket as well. Pathirana to leave CSK?
According to latest rumours, Chennai Super Kings are expected to not retain Matheesha Pathirana. However, they are expected to do so in order to buy him back at the auction that will reportedly be held in December. He was retained by the franchise for a massive fee of INR 13 crore for the 2025 season. Pathirana has been with CSK since IPL 2022 and has been a key player for them in the bowling department.

“Chennai Super Kings, as you know, have traded Jadeja and Sam Curran for Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals. As a franchise, you might know that over the years, we have not used the path of trading, except for one year when we got Robin Uthappa. The team management felt the need for a top-order Indian batsman. And since not many Indian batsmen are going to be available at the auction, we thought the best way to get an Indian top-order batter is to go through the trade window," Viswanathan said in a video shared by CSK.

KL Rahul to KKR?
It is rumoured that KL Rahul is being targeted by the Kolkata Knight Riders. They view him as a potential captaincy option for the upcoming season. The wicketkeeper-batter is currently associated with the Delhi Capitals, who had signed him for a massive fee of INR 14 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, but is already being linked to other franchises after spending just one season with them. Rahul had been terrific with the bat for the Delhi-based franchise last season, scoring 539 runs from 13 matches.

Shami joins LSG, Nitish Rana headed to DC
IPL 2026 Retention Live: Mohammed Shami has been traded to the Lucknow Super Giants from Sunrisers Hyderabad for a massive fee of INR 10 crore. On the other hand, Nitish Rana has made the move from Rajasthan Royals to the Delhi Capitals for INR 4.2 crore.

Samson to CSK, Jadeja to RR
IPL 2026 Retention Live: After weeks of speculation, the Sanju Samson-Ravindra Jadeja trade has finally been confirmed. While Samson has moved to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 18 crore, Ravindra Jadeja has joined the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 14 crore.
