The Mumbai Indians (MI) star shared the heartwarming moment with media personnel at the Mumbai airport before departing for Raipur ahead of his side’s crucial IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

The wholesome gesture from the Indian batter quickly grabbed attention on social media, with fans congratulating Suryakumar and his wife, Devisha Shetty, after the couple welcomed their daughter, Riddhima.

Suryakumar’s arrival in Raipur also ended speculation regarding his availability for Mumbai Indians’ must-win encounter against RCB at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium.

Suryakumar Yadav’s sweet gesture for media goes viral

Before boarding his flight to Raipur, Suryakumar Yadav was spotted interacting with media members at the airport. In a touching moment, the star batter personally handed out boxes of sweets to celebrate the birth of his daughter.

"Yeh lo, aap log khaana yeh (Have this, you guys - please eat it)," Suryakumar said while distributing the sweets.

The video of the gesture quickly surfaced online and earned widespread praise from cricket fans. Many lauded the Mumbai Indians batter for sharing his happiness with everyone present at the airport.

Soon after, Mumbai Indians confirmed his arrival in Raipur through their social media handles.

"Surya Dada arrives in Raipur," MI wrote in their post.

Suryakumar’s presence comes as a major boost for Mumbai Indians, who are fighting to keep their IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive. The five-time champions have struggled for consistency this season and currently find themselves in the lower half of the points table with only three wins.

Although Suryakumar Yadav has not enjoyed his best IPL season statistically, his experience and match-winning ability remain extremely important for Mumbai Indians. The star batter has scored 195 runs in 10 matches so far during IPL 2026.
