Rajasthan Royals (RR) have dealt with a big setback right ahead of their crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) which is scheduled to be played on April 19. Sports Tak has learnt that Sanju Samson is doubtful for the LSG match, given his injury concerns.
Sanju Samson doubtful for RR vs LSG match
Following an injury sustained during their recent game against Delhi Capitals (DC), Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson underwent medical scans on Friday, April 18. However, scans are done but the final call will be taken on April 19. Sources privy to the development revealed that Sanju Samson looked in in little pain on April 17. Notably, Samson will be undergoing another scan now. The availability of the wicketkeeper-batter for the remainder of the current IPL season will be contingent upon the outcome of these scans, leaving the team and its fans in a state of concern.

In in case Sanju is not available Riyan Parag will take the charge again as he has done it before in the first three matches.
During the Rajasthan Royals' innings against Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 match, Sanju Samson sustained a rib injury while batting. In the sixth over of the innings, the wicketkeeper-batter visibly experienced discomfort in his ribs, leading him to leave the field and retire hurt at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Following his departure from the crease, Sanju Samson did not return to bat, prompting speculation about the severity of his injury. However, after the conclusion of the match, he provided an update, stating that he was feeling well but was not in a condition to resume batting.
espite his initial reassuring words, the fact that Samson has now undergone scans suggests that the injury might be more serious than initially assessed. The RR management will undoubtedly be hoping for favorable results from these scans.
Meanwhile, RR's head coach Rahul Dravid also reacted to Samson's injury. He said that the scans are done and reports are awaited and the final call on him will be taken accordingly.
RR's performance hasn't been up to the mark in the ongoing IPL 2025 so far. In a total of seven matches, RR have managed to win just two matches which has seen them reeling at the eighth spot in the IPL 2025 points table.
