Chennai Super Kings have signed South Africa's star Dewald Brevis as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. CSK managed to sign the South African as a replacement since there was one overseas slot left in their squad. Bervis, who had a base price of only INR 75 Lakh in the auction at the end of last year hs been picked by CSK for INR 2.2 crore.
Brevis has featured in 81 T20s and has a strike rate close to 145. He was a part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last edition of the tournament. He played 10 IPL matches for MI in two editions (2022-2024) of the tournament. He scored 230 runs with an average of 23.00 in his 10 outings in the cash-rich league. CSK took their 'X', formerly known as Twitter, to announce their second replacement for the 18th edition of the tournament.
He got a call-up from CSK after his brilliant performance in the domestic side, Titans, scoring consistently in both List A and first-class matches. He was in good form during the SA20 as well, earlier this year.
