India's cricketing legend MS Dhoni featured with Argentina football captain Lionel Messi in an advertisement ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, which is scheduled to take place on April 20 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Lays India took their Instagram to share a clip where CSK captain MS Dhoni can be seen flexing his football moves alongside legendary footballer Lionel Messi. The video went viral on social media. Here is the clip.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar also compared Lionel Messi with MS Dhoni for his calmness and nature with teammates. Bhuvi, who made his international debut under MS Dhoni's captaincy, revealed that his favourite footballer is Lionel Messi and he can see Messi's shadow in MS Dhoni.
"MS Dhoni and Lionel Messi because I have spent time with Dhoni, and spending time with him is always fun. So I know his nature. Everyone knows who spent time with him. I've seen Lionel Messi on TV or in whatever game I have watched. So I think he is different, and just like Messi, MS Dhoni is different," said Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast.
MS Dhoni is currently leading CSK in IPL 2025 after their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of the tournament because of an elbow injury. CSK are currently at number 10 in the points table, winning just two matches out of their seven outings.
Interestingly, MS Dhoni also used to play football rather than cricket during his school days. He was the goalkeeper in football.
