Pakistan red ball coach Jason Gillespie has refused to join the Shan Masood-led Test squad for the upcoming two-match assignment against South Africa scheduled to start from December 22. Pakistan cricket team led by Mohammad Rizwan is currently in South Africa for the three-match ODI series followed by three-match ODI series.
After finishing the red ball series, both teams will face each other for the two Test matches. As per Cricbuzz's report, Gillespie, a former Australian pacer, is upset with a few recent decisions of the PCB. He was to fly out to South Africa along with the Test squad via Dubai on Thursday but there was no sign of Gillespie. It is believed that he has sent in his resignation. A query to the PCB remained unanswered.
Gillespie was appointed Pakistan's red ball coach earlier this year for the next two years. The Test side has failed to perform under his guidance as they lost the first-ever Test series against Bangladesh. Pakistan made their comeback after the humiliating defeat against Bangladesh as they defeated England in the Test series on their home soil.

The cricbuzz report also added that Gillespie has been unhappy with the PCB for quite some time as he was kept out of the loop during a few key decisions during the recent home series against England. The last straw now seems to be PCB's decision to not renew the contract of assistant coach Tim Nielsen, who was brought on board in August to help the red ball team.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Team's white ball coach Gary Kirsten decided to leave PCB in October earlier this year. PCB appointed two foreign head coaches and both were unable to survive for even half of the year, this is surely not creating a very good image of PCB.
The report also added that former Pakistan pacer Aqib Javed who is currently in South Africa along with Mohammad Rizwan-led side for the white ball series has been asked to take interim charge of the red ball team. The upcoming Tests are part of the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. The two Tests are in Centurion (from December 26) and Cape Town (January 3).
